People’s Goal Advocates for "Zero Tolerance" During 16 Days of Activism in Mae Sot

MAE SOT, THAILAND (Dec 21, 2025) — The People’s Goal training team hosted a critical advocacy and education session today titled “Zero Tolerance for Violence Against Women – No Exceptions.” Held at a local safe house, the event brought together 20 participants, including defected military and police members from the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), their families, and political activists.

The session focused on the history of the 16 Days of Activism and the urgent need to address Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV). With Myanmar facing ongoing armed conflict, the People's Goal organization highlighted how impunity for armed forces often exacerbates violence against vulnerable groups.

“We firmly oppose all human rights violations committed by armed groups,” a representative stated. “Respecting women’s rights is not just a value; it is a necessity for the future of our democracy.”

Beyond the educational workshop, the event provided direct humanitarian aid, distributing essential food supplies and feminine hygiene products to the families in attendance.

Challenges and Opportunities for Victory Through a United Front_Thought Process

By early 2025, revolutionary forces had captured and controlled approximately 100 towns across the country. However, after August 2024, the Chinese government exerted heavy pressure on revolutionary armies in Northern Shan State to halt offensives. Simultaneously, they provided the military junta with weapons, ammunition, funding, technology, and hardware ranging from drones to aircraft.

Utilizing aid from China and Russia, alongside the forced recruitment of youth through the conscription law, the military provided basic training and deployed these new recruits as frontline combatants. Consequently, the military was able to launch counter-offensives starting in mid-2025. Leveraging advantages in weaponry, manpower, and air superiority, the military regained control of lost towns, starting with Nawnghkio. Some cities, including Lashio, were handed back to the military through Chinese government mediation without the need for active combat.

Thus, the coup military which had faced consistent military defeats and lost camps, battalions, headquarters, and towns since the start of Operation 1027 on October 27, 2023 began to regain its footing after August 2025.

In this current landscape, revolutionary forces have come to realize and advocate that defeating the military is impossible through isolated, regional battles; victory and the total crushing of the junta can only be achieved through a United Front. Although they share a common enemy and recognize the solution, the actual formation of a grand revolutionary alliance has remained largely rhetorical rather than practical. Therefore, on December 15, the "Spring Revolution Alliance" (SRA) was officially announced, inviting other groups to join. If the People’s Defense Force (PDF) under the National Unity Government (NUG/MOD), Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs), and the SRA can truly consolidate into a singular, cohesive grand alliance, it would become an incredibly powerful force.

The challenges and opportunities for fighting and winning through SRA were discussed in the “Thought Process” talk show. The guest speakers included:

  • Ma Zu Padonmar – Secretary (1) of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC)

  • Ye Baw Aung San Shar – Commander, PDF Special Regional Military Command

  • Bo Let Yar – Battalion Commander, Shwebo District Battalion 9706 (Red Peacock Battalion)

The discussion was moderated by news presenter Ma Ja Mone.

The “Thought Process” discussion series is a collaborative production by People’s Goal and People’s Spring News.

Empowering Youth Designers to Speak Out Against Sham Elections

n December 2025, People’s Goal (PG) achieved a key milestone under its reintegration programme by successfully concluding the Graphic Design Online Training (Batch-1) with a thematic focus on anti-sham election messaging and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) awareness.

As the final assignment of the one month online training, PG launched a call for graphic contents encouraging participants to translate their learning into impactful visual messages that challenge the junta’s sham election narrative while promoting basic IHL principles. The initiative enabled trainees to connect design skills with civic responsibility and ethical awareness in the context of ongoing conflict.

Participants, including former soldiers and police, civil servants under CDM, former PDF members, and active youth, produced original designs that were shortlisted and shared publicly. One outstanding design was selected for recognition through public reaction based voting, fostering wider engagement and solidarity.

Launched on 16 November 2025 under the theme “Design Your Future,” the training demonstrated PG’s ability to integrate livelihood skills development, reintegration support, and rights based awareness raising. This achievement highlights how creative skills can be used not only for income generation but also as a peaceful and accessible tool for resistance and IHL awareness.

People’s Goal Extends Essential Support to CDM Families Across Magway and Safe Zones

December 2025. The People’s Goal successfully conducted two humanitarian aid missions this month to support defected military and police personnel (CDM) and their families.

On December 15, basic social assistance was distributed to CDM families currently reintegrating with People’s Defense Forces within the liberated areas of Magway Region. Following this, on December 24, People’s Goal partnered with an international humanitarian organization to provide essential household kits to 39 individuals including families, trainees, and children at a People's Goal Safe House.

These initiatives are part of a continuous effort to provide stability and basic necessities to those who have bravely walked away from the junta to join the revolution. People’s Goal remains committed to rotating support based on available funding to ensure no family is left behind in the struggle for democracy.
