Rebuilding Lives with Skills and Dignity
People’s Goal Reintegration Program – January 2026 Update
For those who chose to stand with the people and walk away from military dictatorship, exile is not just a change of place. It is a complete rebuilding of life from the ground up. In unfamiliar countries, without stable income or formal protection, survival depends on skills, community, and dignity. This is where the People’s Goal Reintegration Program becomes more than a training initiative. It becomes a lifeline.
As we enter January 2026, the Reintegration Program continues to support former resistance members, defectors, and displaced civilians by equipping them with practical skills they can immediately use to earn a living and regain confidence in their futures.
Hands-on Skills That Create Real Opportunities
In Mae Sot, Thailand, the Basic Electronic and Home Appliance Repair Training reached an important milestone.
Part 1 was successfully completed in December 2025, where participants learned foundational electrical concepts, basic diagnostics, and safe repair practices for everyday household appliances.
Part 2 begins in January 2026, focusing on more advanced troubleshooting and hands-on repairs.
These are skills that translate directly into income generating opportunities, whether through small repair services, community support work, or future formal employment.
Preserving Culture While Earning a Living
Also in Mae Sot, Karen Traditional Weaving Training – Part 1 was completed in January 2026. This training goes beyond economic survival. It preserves cultural identity while creating sustainable livelihoods. Each loom, thread, and pattern represents both heritage and resilience. Participants are not only learning to weave cloth but also weaving continuity between their past and future.
Digital Skills Without Borders
Despite physical displacement, learning continues online.
Video making and content creation training
Graphic design courses
These online programs allow participants across different countries to build modern digital skills. With these tools, they can support advocacy, freelance creatively, or work with organizations that need communication and design support. In a world shaped by digital storytelling, these skills open doors that geography once closed.
Sewing Pathways in Mizoram, India
In Mizoram, India, Sewing Training – Part 2 begins in January 2026. Building on earlier lessons, this phase strengthens tailoring techniques, production efficiency, and basic business thinking. Sewing is more than a trade. It is a stable, portable skill that can sustain families and support communities wherever participants find themselves.
More Than Training, a Lifeline
These programs are not isolated workshops. They are lifelines for people who made a difficult moral choice and are now navigating life in exile. Through every stitched seam, every woven fabric, every repaired wire, participants reclaim a sense of purpose. They rebuild dignity. They regain the ability to support themselves and others.
Most importantly, these skills allow them to continue supporting the Spring Revolution not only through resistance, but through survival, resilience, and community building. Reintegration is not about forgetting the struggle. It is about ensuring that those who stood for justice can stand again on their own feet.
