Beyond the Hardships: How One CDM Officer is Turning Dreams into Reality

Choosing to stand with the people often comes with immense sacrifice. For former police officer Ko Ko Lwin, joining the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) meant leaving behind not only his career but also the stability and security that once supported his family.

Like many CDM participants, Ko Ko Lwin faced severe financial difficulties after making the difficult decision to oppose military rule. Living in hiding and struggling to provide for his loved ones, each day became a challenge of survival, and rebuilding his life seemed almost impossible.

Recognizing the challenges faced by revolutionary supporters who had arrived in Mae Sot for various reasons, People's Goal launched the "Entrepreneurship for the Future" program. The initiative was designed to help participants rebuild their lives by providing practical knowledge and skills related to small business development and entrepreneurship.

More importantly, the program went beyond training alone. Participants also received support for their small-scale business projects, enabling them to establish sustainable livelihoods and regain financial independence.

Ko Ko Lwin was one of the participants in this program.

Determined to create a better future for himself and his family, he fully immersed himself in the training process. Alongside learning essential business concepts, he gained valuable insights into social ethics and international principles that could help him build a responsible and sustainable enterprise.

Inspired by the opportunity, Ko Ko Lwin developed his own business plan and decided to pursue goat farming. Today, he has successfully established his livelihood and is now able to live a more peaceful and stable life while raising goats and planning for the future.

His journey is a powerful reminder that even after tremendous sacrifice and hardship, new beginnings are possible when opportunities meet determination.

People's Goal has documented Ko Ko Lwin's inspiring story in a special video feature, highlighting how one CDM officer transformed adversity into hope and rebuilt his life through resilience and entrepreneurship.
