People’s Goal Monthly Highlights – June 2026
In June 2026, People’s Goal (PG) continued its efforts to support CDM personnel, veterans, and political activists along the Thailand–Myanmar border through vocational training, livelihood assistance, and community engagement initiatives. By creating opportunities for skills development and strengthening social connections, PG remains committed to helping individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience.
Empowering Through Skills: Home Electrical Appliances & Motor Repair Training
The Paung See Lann Vocational Training Center continued implementing Batch 3 of its Home Electrical Appliances and Motor Repair Training, which officially commenced on May 18, 2026. Throughout June, trainees actively participated in both classroom instruction and hands-on practical sessions designed to equip them with marketable technical skills.
This six-week training program aims to enhance participants' employability and create pathways toward sustainable livelihoods. The current batch consists of 12 participants, including 3 CDM soldiers and police officers, 2 civil CDM staff members, 6 political activists, and 1 former PDF comrade. Through intensive practical learning, participants are gaining valuable experience that will enable them to pursue self-employment or secure technical jobs in the future.
Expanding Opportunities: New Air Conditioning & Refrigerator Repair Training
As part of its continued commitment to supporting long-term livelihood opportunities, People’s Goal announced a new vocational training program focusing on Air Conditioning and Refrigerator Repair for CDM personnel, political activists, and disabled veterans residing along the Thailand–Myanmar border.
The six-week course is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in basic electricity, air conditioning systems, and refrigerator maintenance and repair. The training will accept approximately ten participants and will be conducted five days a week through half-day sessions.
In line with its principles of inclusion and equality, People’s Goal strongly encourages applications from women and individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, reaffirming its commitment to providing equal opportunities regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background. Applications for this batch officially closed on June 30, 2026.
Strengthening Solidarity: Social Gathering for CDM Personnel and Families
Recognizing the importance of social support and community connection, People’s Goal organized a social gathering on July 3, 2026, bringing together CDM soldiers, police officers, and their family members living along the Thailand–Myanmar border.
The gathering served as a platform for participants to reconnect, share experiences, and openly discuss the challenges they continue to face in exile. A total of 32 participants attended the event, including 26 CDM personnel and family members and 6 members of the People’s Goal team.
During the gathering, the PG team shared updates on current programs and future initiatives, while participants provided valuable feedback, discussed their livelihood concerns, and offered recommendations on how support mechanisms could be further strengthened. These insights from the ground will play an important role in shaping People’s Goal’s future programming and ensuring that assistance remains responsive to the evolving needs of the community.
Looking Ahead
Through vocational training, livelihood opportunities, and community engagement, People’s Goal continues to stand alongside CDM personnel, political activists, and their families as they navigate uncertain futures. By investing in skills, fostering solidarity, and listening closely to community needs, PG remains committed to helping individuals rebuild their lives and create sustainable pathways toward a more secure and hopeful future.
