Making International Humanitarian Law Accessible on the Frontlines

People’s Goal has published a Myanmar language translation of key principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), carefully referencing original international sources to ensure accuracy and credibility. This initiative aims to make essential humanitarian norms accessible to those most affected by armed conflict and those directly involved in it.

The translated IHL pamphlets are printed and distributed directly to frontline resistance troops. In contexts where access to formal legal education and training is extremely limited, these materials serve as practical guidance on the protection of civilians, the treatment of detainees, the wounded, and the basic rules that govern conduct during armed conflict.

By presenting IHL in clear, locally understandable language, the pamphlets help bridge the gap between international legal frameworks and realities on the ground. They are designed to be concise, visual, and easy to carry, allowing fighters to quickly refer to core principles even in challenging environments.
