People’s Goal launches traditional Karen weaving and embroidery training for women

On September 15, 2025, People’s Goal, through the Paungsielan’s Vocational Training Program launched a “Traditional Karen Weaving and Embroidery Course.”

The training is designed to support women who contributed to the Spring Revolution—CDM defectors’ family members, former civil servants, and political activists. Its goals are to provide livelihood skills, preserve traditional craftsmanship, foster community solidarity, and strengthen women’s roles and capacities.

The 16-week program will teach participants how to weave Karen fabric, develop designs, and apply embroidery for decoration. Currently, 12 women are enrolled in the course.

This initiative not only sustains cultural heritage but also empowers women to generate sustainable income and resilience in challenging circumstances.
