Where New Skills Become New Beginnings

For many defectors, CDMers, and their families, crossing the border meant leaving behind not only their uniforms but their entire way of life. In unfamiliar places with limited options, rebuilding is never easy. That is where the Reintegration Programme steps in quietly, steadily, and with purpose.

This November marked an important milestone in Mizoram, India, where two vocational trainings reached successful completion.Eight participants completed the Weaving Training, transforming what began as hesitant hands on a loom into practical skills, renewed confidence, and real income opportunities. Alongside them, ten participants completed the Sewing Training, gaining essential skills and linkages to livelihood opportunities that will support their long term stability.

Other trainings continue to progress in parallel:

·       Karen Traditional Weaving in Mae Sot, Thailand

·       Basic Electrical, Aircon, and Refrigerator Repair in Mae Sot, Thailand

These programmes, launched in September 2025, are more than skills-building sessions. They are lifelines for those who stood with the people, left the military dictatorship behind, and now work to rebuild their lives in another country. And through every stitch, every thread, and every repaired wire, they find a renewed sense of dignity and a way to keep supporting the Spring Revolution.
