Promoting Humanity in Conflict: Basic IHL Training Conducted in Champhai

Even in times of war, humanity must remain at the centre. To reinforce this principle, People’s Goal successfully conducted a two-day Basic International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Training on 29–30 June 2026 in Champhai, Mizoram, India.

The training brought together 13 CDM soldiers and police officers, nine family members, and four trainers, creating an interactive learning environment focused on the laws of armed conflict, civilian protection, and responsible conduct during military operations.

Participants explored the fundamental principles of International Humanitarian Law and discussed how these standards can be applied in Myanmar’s evolving conflict context. Through practical discussions and real-life scenarios, the training reinforced the importance of safeguarding civilians and upholding ethical conduct even under the most difficult circumstances.

People’s Goal believes that strengthening knowledge of International Humanitarian Law is an essential investment in protecting communities and promoting accountability. As Myanmar's democratic movement continues, respect for humanitarian principles remains vital in ensuring that civilians are protected and international norms are upheld.
