Repairing Lives, Rebuilding Futures

Voices from the Completion of Home Appliance and Motor Repair Course Batch (2)

On March 15, People’s Goal marked the completion of the Home Appliance, Motor, and Washing Machine Repair Course Batch (2), highlighting another step in supporting those who have left their former roles to stand against military rule.

The 11 participants who completed the course represent a wide range of backgrounds, including CDM soldiers and police officers, a former PDF member, activists, and a former political prisoner. Each has faced significant disruption after choosing to resist, often losing stable income and social security in the process. This six week training provided them with practical technical skills that can be directly applied to earning a livelihood.

In the current context, such training goes beyond skill development. It supports individuals in transitioning into new roles while creating alternative systems of livelihood outside military structures. Repair skills, in particular, offer immediate opportunities within communities, allowing participants to provide services while sustaining themselves.

This initiative reflects a broader effort to move from survival toward stability. By equipping participants with hands-on skills, People’s Goal helps strengthen self reliance and supports those rebuilding their lives while continuing to stand apart from military systems.
